The government continued to declare its commitment to advanced European human rights standards. In two internationally publicized reports \u2014 that of the European Commission from October and that of the rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from January 2000 \u2014 Bulgaria received a relatively positive assessment of the overall human rights situation.
