Possibility for funding from the UN Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery.

The UN Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery provides free funds to civil organizations for yet another year. The fund is financed through voluntary donations from governments, private or public organizations, and individuals, and is managed by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, with the assistance of independent experts.

Organizations from around the world can apply for non-repayable assistance ranging from $15,000 to $30,000 US dollars. In 2022, the fund financed 43 organizations and through them provided support to over 13,000 survivors of slavery in 33 countries worldwide, amounting to $961,000 USD.

Organizations that provide direct assistance - legal, medical, educational, humanitarian, and social - to survivors of slavery can apply for funding. Since its establishment by the General Assembly in 1991, the UN Slavery Fund has allocated over 8 million US dollars to more than 400 organizations in over 100 countries, providing rehabilitation and assistance to thousands of individuals whose human rights have been violated due to contemporary forms of slavery.

Contemporary forms of slavery include debt bondage, forced and early marriage, forced labor, traditional slavery, human trafficking, child trafficking, spouse selling, serfdom, sexual slavery, compelling widows to marry a deceased husband's brother or relative to inherit, worst forms of child labor, and children involved in armed conflict.

Eligible candidates are only civil organizations. Applications from governmental or municipal organizations, political parties, and/or national liberation movements are not accepted.

Deadline for submitting documents and applications: March 1, 2023.
